Integrative Cancer Care and Support
At Living Wellness Medical center, we take an integrative approach to oncology care working with the patient, their family, and our team of health professionals to help have the best outcome with cancer care.
As naturopathic physicians, we believe prevention is key and work with patients concerned about a family risk of cancer, or who have had cancer in the past help prevent a recurrence. We do this by educating each person on how to reduce their risk factors for cancer through a holistic and complementary approach. This includes nutritional counseling, mind-body medicine, botanicals, homeopathy, nutrients and supplements, and evaluating for environmental toxicant exposure.
Patients currently diagnosed with cancer fair better when combining conventional and naturopathic treatments to achieve overall health. We meet the patient where they are at and offer natural medicines to assist the body in healing itself. We work with conventional oncologists and conventional treatments, offsetting the side effects, and increasing efficacy. Our integrative approach includes evidence-based, conventional, and complementary treatments to address the mental, emotional, and physical needs of the cancer patient.
The doctors at Living Wellness Medical Center are trained to know which natural treatments are contraindicated with specific types of cancer and cancer treatments. It is important that patients don’t try to manage their own care and take supplements NOT recommended by their naturopathic physician.
Standard treatments for cancer recommended are usually surgery, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, biologic therapies, and radiation. Conventional recommendations vary depending on the cancer type and extent of the disease. When implemented by trained naturopathic physicians, an integrative approach can support these therapies without interfering and help offset some side effects.
Integrative naturopathic care includes acupuncture, nutrition, nutritional supplements, botanical medicines, homeopathy and intravenous Vitamin-C therapy. The goal is to improve the quality of life of people living with cancer, and to reduce the risk of cancer recurrence. Besides helping with symptom alleviation during treatment, we help educate patients at the time of diagnosis and assist with recovery after the medical treatments are completed to bring the patient back to optimal health.
