Intravenous (IV) Infusion

When ozone is administered IV, it’s called Major Autohemotherapy (a.k.a. Major Ozone or MAH). During this procedure, 100-250cc of blood is drawn from the body into a sterile medical container. The blood is then mixed with ozone and oxygen before being infused back into the body through the vein from which it was drawn.

Major Ozone is one of the therapeutic ways to use ozone. Conditions best treated with Major Ozone include:

  • Acute and chronic fatigue
  • Circulatory disorders, heart disease
  • Acute infections like colds, flu, dental, sinus, or skin infections
  • Chronic bacterial, viral, and fungal infections
  • Immune or autoimmune disorders like allergies and rheumatoid arthritis
  • Inflammation
  • Liver dysfunction
  • Cancer, reducing chemotherapy side effects
  • Macular degeneration
  • Aging and geriatric concerns
  • Athletic performance and endurance

A series of treatments is most effective for long-term benefits, especially when dealing with a chronic disease. Depending on the condition being treated, Major Ozone treatments may be repeated daily, weekly, twice weekly, or monthly. Your Living Wellness Medical Center doctor will adjust your protocol to suit your needs.

Intramuscular (IM) Injection

Another one of the therapeutic ways to use ozone is an intramuscular injection. When ozone is administered IM, it’s called Minor Autohemotherapy (a.k.a. Minor Ozone). During this procedure, 5cc of blood is drawn from the body into a syringe that has been prefilled with ozone gas. After the ozone mixes with the blood, the air is expelled, and the treated blood is then injected back into the body via the gluteus muscle.

Conditions best treated with Minor Ozone include:

  • Acute infections like colds and flu

In the case of acute illness, such as a cold or flu, a Minor Ozone injection can be given at the onset of illness to shorten the duration. It can also be used preventively as a natural immune booster to prevent coming down with a cold or flu after being exposed to a sick person, or before travel.

The following methods of administering ozone therapy are focused on healing wounds and rejuvenating tissues. As with all ozone therapies, a series of treatments offers the best long-term results.

Intra-articular Injection (into joints)

Ozone gas is injected directly into injured joints, with or without a prolotherapy solution.

Used to treat:

  • Acute joint injuries and inflammation
  • Arthritis

Subcutaneous (SQ) Injection

Ozone gas is injected under the skin, around the site of injury or inflammation.

Used to treat:

  • Acute joint injuries and inflammation
  • Sprains, tendonitis
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome

Insufflation

Ozone gas is blown into a body cavity or into a bag that surrounds a site of a wound (a.k.a. limb bagging).

Used to treat:

  • Skin wounds and ulcers
  • Ulcerative Colitis, Crohn’s Disease, IBS, SIBO, Fissure or Fistula
  • Vaginal infections, Pelvic pain
