  • Role in Neurology
  • Role in Sports-medicine

Small Intestinal Bowel Overgrowth (SIBO) Test

Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) is a serious digestive disturbance that can be treated effectively, but only if it is accurately diagnosed. The small intestinal bowel overgrowth lab test checks patients’ breath samples for levels of hydrogen, methane, or both to assess for SIBO. After ingesting a substrate packet, the patient produces breath samples every 20 minutes over a 3-hour period. Learn more.

Digestive Function & Stool Analysis

The comprehensive digestive analysis stool test will assess for chronic or underlying causes of disease and indicate where the treatment plan needs adjustment.

Beneficial bacteria live in us naturally and help each of our body functions. Harmful bacteria, or even overgrowth of beneficial bacteria, cause imbalances that disrupt normal body function and health.

Once levels are determined, a treatment plan is created to address any issues. Learn more.

Candida Testing

The candida lab test checks for candidiasis, by checking the balance of intestinal flora. Candida albicans is a healthy organism that lives in our GI tract. The normal balance of intestinal flora can be disrupted by the aggressive use of antibiotics, high sugar intake, and certain types of medications, illnesses, and diabetes. With candidiasis, symptoms can include fatigue, vaginitis, allergies, foggy brain, and other symptoms. We can effectively treat candidiasis based on accurate testing.

Understanding the Results of Your Laboratory Testing

Conventional Reference Range

  • A comparison of your laboratory testing results with a “normal” reference range is essential in medical decision making and diagnosis.
  • However, the conventional reference ranges have rather broad cut-offs for disease.
  • What about someone who is “pre-diabetic” but told they are “normal”?

"Normal" vs "Optimal" Lab Values

  • Naturopathic medicine has much to offer in the prevention and reversal of chronic disease.
  • Wellness is achieved through “optimizing” your physiology.
  • Instead of settling for “normal” metabolism, work with your doctor to achieve “optimal lab values.”

I am so grateful to have met Dr. Watkins! It is not often that you meet a doctor that desires to get to the root of an issue AND genuinely cares. I am a detail-oriented person, and she recognized that and explained how things should function vs how things were functioning for me, all at a level that was easily understood with the right amount of technical information. Dr. Watkins is smart as well as intuitive – rather than throw prescriptions at me for individual ailments, she treats the overall body, connecting my various medical issues and guiding me through the process to healing. She is a breath of fresh air, and she makes it easy to talk to her about anything.

My wife has seen Dr. Watkins since last year after having stomach issues. After her first visit with Dr. Watkins she had a plan of action. After the first couple of weeks of following her plan, she started noticing a big positive shift in her symptoms and after a few months, many of the issues had gone away. Above all, the support that she received from Dr. Watkins and Living Wellness has made all the difference. This place is truly a life-changing experience and has changed our perspective on healthcare. We love Living Wellness!
